The François Hémart champagne is made exclusively from the « Grand Cru” vineyards of Aÿ. Consequently, the production is limited to a few thousand bottles per year.
François Hémart is the earliest known ancestor of the Giraud-Hémart
family.
His famous name, steeped in history and passion, was adopted for the label
of our next top-quality champagne.
This wine, eminently satisfying and smooth, characterises the inherent qualities
of the grapes from the vineyards of Aÿ.
The vinification of this wine is unique in Champagne: cold settling of the
must, vinification for 6 months in thermostatically-controlled vats, followed
by a 6-month period of ageing in barrels constructed of oak wood from the Argonne
forest.
This non-vintage champagne is available in three different categories:
François Hémart Brut :
The personality of this powerful, full-bodied wine from the hillsides of Aÿ is
intensified by ageing in small, oak casks.
70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay (typical percentages for wines from the Aÿ vineyards).
François Hémart Brut Reserve :
A Pinot Noir, epitomizing the nature of the chalky soils of Aÿ. A generous,
full-bodied champagne.
François Hémart Brut Rosé :
A tender, romantic champagne, related to the history of Champagne wines by
virtue of the addition of red wines from Aÿ.
